How is refrigerated truck pricing calculated?

Why there is no single price

Shippers often ask “how much is a reefer truck per trip?”. The honest answer is that it depends on the job. A refrigerated truck runs a cooling unit for the whole trip, burns extra fuel and needs more equipment care, so cost changes with distance, temperature, time and conditions.

We don’t publish prices here because numbers not based on a real job tend to mislead. Instead, here are the factors most carriers use.

The main cost factors

  • Distance and route — fuel, tolls, driver time, and whether there is a return load (e.g. Bangkok–Chiang Mai, Phuket or Hat Yai).
  • Temperature range — holding frozen -18°C or below takes more energy than chilled 0–8°C.
  • Truck size and volume — 4, 6 and 10-wheel trucks cost differently; share pallets, cartons and weight.
  • Number of pickups and drops — each door opening affects temperature and adds time.
  • Waiting and time windows — queues, night or time-critical deliveries.
  • Frequency — regular contracts are planned differently from one-off trips.
  • Extras — special temperature reports, helpers, tail-lift, documents.

What MP includes

Every MP truck has GPS and a temperature logger, and cargo insurance on every truck starts from 1,000,000 THB. Tell us if you need a different report format or coverage.

Comparing quotes fairly

  • Check what is included: tolls, waiting time, number of drops
  • Make sure temperature range and truck size match your request
  • Ask about in-transit temperature and location information
  • Review cargo insurance terms
  • The cheapest quote is not always the best value if one loss costs more than the saving

FAQ

Why no prices on the website?

Because price depends on route, temperature, truck size and job conditions. A quote based on your real details is more accurate.
